Emerald Ash Borer

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis, is a small, non-native green beetle that is killing North American ash trees at an alarming rate. It has been responsible for the death of millions of ash trees in the Midwest and Eastern states and in Ontario, Canada. With Ohio's estimated five billion ash trees at risk, the EAB poses a serious threat to our economy, ecology and the environment. Ohio State University Extension and other universities have joined with the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA), the Forest Service and other governmental and related organizations to deal with this tree killing insect.
